    How does an Oximeter work?

Your OxyWatch will send beams of light through the blood in your finger, measuring the amount of Oxygen. It also measures your heart-rate at the same time.

Doctors use oximeters to monitor ongoing health concerns like asthma, pneumonia, lung and heart conditions. It’s also a useful tool in the fight against Covid-19. The blood oxygen level is an indicator of how well a patient’s lungs are performing.

Your HoMedics OxyWatch can also be used during physical training, as your body typically adapts to different levels of oxygenation during physical activity by increasing your breathing rate.

How to use the HoMedics Oxywatch

Make sure you’re sat down and resting.

Place your HoMedics OxyWatch on the end of your finger so that the tip of your finger is as far inside as it can go.

    Press the button to start.

After 5 seconds, your current blood oxygen level and heart rate will be displayed on the screen. These will continuously update while you wear the device.

Use the device for 1 minute to ensure you get an accurate reading.

What do the readings on my Oximeter mean?

Your HoMedics OxyWatch measures how well your heart is pumping oxygen through your body.

95-100% is considered to be a normal, healthy range.

93-94% If your readings are between 93 and 94% while resting, you should seek medical advice from your GP or dial 111.

<92% If your reading is 92% or less while resting, call 999 and seek medical advice immediately.
